FAQ

DO YOU DO MARKETING? Short answer: No. You know far better than anyone else who your audience is intended to be. Start with your own lists, send a press release to the newsletters or serial publications in your field. Do you need endorsements? If so, you know whom to ask. Some subsidy publishers offer the "whole package," which means they include sending out one-page notices to 50 news media (if there are still that many book reviewers) for, what is it now? 44 cents postage, while charging you a lot more.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM PUBLISHING? The only difference is that YOU are the publisher, i.e., the person who makes the decision to publish and comes up with the money to do it. College Editions helps you through the process.

WHY DON'T I JUST HIRE A PRINTER? That's always an option. The advantage of working with a book production company is that you get a reasonable price on the printing, plus a book that looks and feels like a book you might find on a bookstore shelf alongside HarperCollins or Random House.

IS MY MANUSCRIPT REALLY READY? Check the links on the Author Page for "book doctors" if you're unsure. Get a critique, and, if that's not enough, you can consider investing in hiring an editor, or reconsider your publishing decision.
